और इसरो में कार्य किया. उन्होंने वर्ष 1998 के द्वितीय पोखरण परमाणु परिक्षण में
भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी. वर्ष 2002 में कलाम भारत के 11वें राष्ट्रपति
चुने गए और 5 वर्ष की अवधि की सेवा के बाद, वह शिक्षण, लेखन और सार्वजनिक सेवा
में लौट आए थे.
तमिलनाडु राज्य में एक तमिल मुस्लिम परिवार में हुआ था.
सम्प्रदायों के लोग आज भी उनको याद करते हैं. उनके द्वारा लिखी गयी किताबें आज भी
लोगों और युवाओं के लिए मार्गदर्शन का कार्य करतीं हैं. लोग उनको People’s
President” और ‘Missile Man of India के नामों से भी पुकारते हैं.
